Despite the growth, something is changing…

Yes I am talking about the corporate growth, yes I am talking about you — all the employees out there working in xyz company. Don’t you feel a change in the way a corporate treats you. I do! Who would know better than an intern with a 2-years work experience. When your company values your work as well as “your needs”, damn it! You are at the perfect place, and that’s what makes me write this. I say “needs” but the world says “Culture” so here is what attracts me the most at Fynd.

Disclaimer: All the findings are based on my internship experience and open dialogue with HR Manager and the employees.

“Culture is the invisible founder”, will make sense now as I start articulating about Fynd’s Work culture. Start-up work cultures are typically envisioned as esprit de corps that drives the employees. Supporting the fact, Fynd defines a great place to work is where you love showing up to the office and like to work every day. Just 2 months of interning at Fynd and I am going gaga over the very appealing work culture here.

“Customers will never love a company until the employees love it first” says Simon Sinek, Author of Start with Why.

I believe that the founders are the ones who build Fynd, but indeed it is the work culture here that actually imparts an identity to it. The work culture at Fynd is no fancy or complicated masterpiece recipe but it’s just good food from fresh ingredients. It’s important to create a culture that both values and rewards risk and this is how Fynd achieves it —

“Fynd Culture is designed keeping in mind individuals’ views and goals. We not only deal with organisational goals but make sure we meet their personal goals as well. We are very employee friendly” says HR Manager at Fynd.

If you aren’t sure what all the hype is about, then read on. Here are 13 of the many reasons why so many people are trying to get their foot in Fynd-ing.

# Reason 1 — Divided by Teams, United By Values

The core values are paramount to everything people do at Fynd. The ethical code of conduct is primarily set to promote honesty, ethicality, accountability, ownership, self Improvement, respect and no politics. Core values at Fynd aren’t about pointing fingers, but about offering a helping hand to succeed. I see my dedicated colleagues working everyday towards making Fynd better, founders who sit among their employees (there are no cabins, only meeting rooms!) and make sure that everyone improves a little everyday.

# Reason 2- There is no failure, only Feedback

Constructive criticism is the only way Fynd learns about its weaknesses. To improvise on the weaknesses, Fynd has a structured feedback mechanism for anything and everything. Whether it is a meeting feedback or giving an Upward feedback to the managers (Yes you read it right, you rate and give your feedback to your managers as well) or be it deciding on the Friday food, feedback is a must and this is how we work!

# Reason 3 — Half Work, Half Vacation: Meet the Workcation

Bored of your office venue ? Not getting any fresh ideas ? Workcation is the savior! Getting along with the team and coming up with fresh ideas is what we aim out of a workcation and hence there’s nothing that says I can’t have fun while I’m working at Fynd! We pick a problem, address it together as a team and mark the end of the problem. That’s how Fynd achieves team building. Past workcation places include Goa, Gokarna, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Coonor, etc.

# Reason 4: We are open to learn

Learnings at Fynd are by the team members, for the team members, and of the team members. Open Learning Special interest group is an initiative by Fynd, responsible for skill development of an individual. It includes training programs, workshops, seminars and presentations to upgrade the existing skills of the employees. LightBright, an automation tool for mailing, training was imparted to ease the process of sending emails to the brands. Learn Till the Last Drop (LTLD) is an initiative wherein you invest time in learning while in washroom also.

Under Open Learning a business communication session was organised for 60 days for the employees to improve upon their verbal and non-verbal communication.

“After pursuing this course, I am a better version of myself than I was before. I thank Fynd for giving us an opportunity and for valuing us this much.” says Business Communication course attendee.

# Reason 5 — Automate, Automate & Automate!

Automation and optimisation are our secret Guru’s at Fynd. Several tools are essentially used to enhance productivity and reduce manual intervention. Just to name a few, Fynd uses Asana — to track and manage projects, Slack — to achieve the fastest internal communication, Quip — to collaboratively document and keep track of the discussions and action points, Trello — to appoint and manage tasks. Adding on the list we do make our own tools too like Witi — to automatically generate attributes like color, sleeve, pattern, cloth for a specific item , LightBright — to automate emails, but to know the full list you need to join Fynd.

# Reason 6 — Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

Cornflakes? Maggi? Chocos? Tea? Coffee? Fruits? Biscuits? Oven? Toaster? Refrigerator? to anything and everything you need, Pantry is at your service. Moreover if you go for a trip anywhere, you cannot come back empty handed. Souvenirs in the form of food and/or fridge magnets are always expected! Friday Beer and Biryani day, what more do you need?

# Reason 7 — Keep Calm and Play

All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy! Fynd reckons to maintain the “work-fun” balance as we strongly believe continuous work kills the potential of discovery, mastery, creativity, flexibility and ability to innovate. We at Fynd cannot afford this!

So, you get to be a part of our work culture wherein we are free to take a break from work and play carrom, cricket or challenge teammates in FIFA.

# Reason 8: Perks of Fynding

Perks at Fynd are driven by the needs of the employee. Work From Home, flexible working hours, in-house library, team outing, medical insurance, leaves, ESOP (Employee Stock Options), gratuity, loans, and HOYC (Hardware Of Your Choice) are the awesome list of perks Fynd offers the employees.

Fynd has recently come up with Fynd Day Care for all the employees having children of the age 6 months to 6 years. And that’s not all, the list is appended every now and then so keep your supplementary ready to jot it down.

# Reason 9: Connect, Collaborate, Celebrate — Socialappa

Fynd has a dedicated Socialappa team who is responsible for employee recreational activities. At Fynd, socializing is a great tool for development of self-confidence and giving self-esteem of the employees the required boost. And we thereby kick out all the shyness and hesitance from an individual. From birthdays and festival celebrations to outdoor sports activities socialappa is all about enjoyment. Wanna join us in FIFA worldcup screening, Trekking and Bollywood theme party ? Come to Fynd.

#Reason 10: How You Doin?

Transparency is essential at all levels for better relationships among employees and a healthy work culture. Manipulating information and data tampering are a strict no no at Fynd. Every month the founders address all the employees about the performance of the firm in the previous month and the upcoming initiatives at Fynd in the ‘ State of the Firm’ meeting. State of the Firm is all about the highlights of the month, new features and releases and roadmap for the next month.

Sad but don’t have an handkerchief to cry on ! You can drop a question anonymously for the State of the Firm to the founders and it will be addressed for sure .

One of the most interesting thing about the State of the Firm is every month founders recommend 2 books to read and you are lucky enough to know this month’s books — Measure What Matters and Prediction Machines. Happy Reading !

# Reason 11: Fynd-terns Talent Retention

Yes, it is the internship programme wherein you are open to explore all the departments, pick a project and brainstorm. No matter, wherever you are stuck, you can always make way to your mentor to sort it out. Like the way we work? If Fynd likes you and your work, Pre-placement Offer (PPO) can be on its way to you!

# Reason 12: Employee Of The Month

Caught sleeping on the desk? Congratulations — you made it to the Employee of the month! Free applause on slack is an added benefit. Or left your desktop/laptop unlocked? Somebody can always troll you via your account on Slack. Thanks for the entertainment dude! Fynd has become a place where we don’t make time for refreshment, it just happens!

# Reason 13: Fynd Stars

You can’t be a star until you are alive, but you can be a star here at Fynd.

Appreciating the top performers of the quarter is a way to boost the employee morale and performance. Fynd makes them feel indispensable for their organization as a Fynd Star and encourage others to pull up their socks for the next time.

Work culture is always a work in progress. It can and will change and evolve over time.So if you think you have what it takes to be a part of a highly motivated team then apply for Fynd on our careers page or via angellist.

Lastly, I am of the opinion that Fynd’s work culture is successful because I feel comfortable here. It imparts me freedom and more importantly it helps me grow personally as well as professionally. I don’t have a boss, target is my boss and each and every individual is working for a target that we collectively achieve at Fynd. Probably in the near future if I open a company, it would surely have an open and friendly work culture as Fynd has and I am sure you would also do the same :P !

If you would like to be a part of our team, please write to careers[at]fynd.com or apply on the careers page.
