Fify says, “hello!”

A few months ago, everyone at Fynd got together to define the purpose of the company. Defining purpose for any startup is not easy and and we took this exercise very seriously to define a purpose that we really wanted to pursue.

We defined our purpose as:

Help people effortlessly discover their fashion.

In our quest to be true to this purpose, we are super excited to announce the public beta R1 of Fify.

Fify is Fynd’s intelligent fashion discovery and commerce bot.

Introducing Fify

Fify will have memory and personality to behave just as humans do.

We are super excited with the possibilities conversational commerce opens up for us. We would love to see you start conversing with her. The more you talk to her, the smarter she will get. This is just the start, and over the weeks she will become significantly better.

Roadmap

Over the next few months we hope to understand better how people converse with a botfriend. This will allows us to refine Fify’s response and start better supporting natural flowing conversations.

The R1 release supports mostly product discovery and limited brand discovery. The next releases will have trend suggestions, curated looks, suggestions of how to style etc. We believe Fify’s learning will closely mimic who people learn. Our design team has taken this very seriously and created Fify’s evolving avator from a weak to a strong AI bot.

Our Vision

Like every mad scientist working on artificial intelligence, our vision for Fify is simply to pass a fashion Turing test.

Fify will first talk only about Fynd Fashion and eventually do all sorts of things related to fashion — discuss trends, alert you about new arrivals, and even gossip about the latest fads of a movie star. Soon she will learn to behave differently with different people. She will remember your tastes and preferences, and even be context aware of what is happening in your world.

One of the challenges we will be facing while building a truly natural conversation in the Indian context will be to teach Fify common Indian words from all the popular languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu et al. Words like abhi, nahi, kab etc.

A natural conversation is well paced, uses colloquialisms/emoticons, is emotionally intelligent, understands sentiment and sarcasm. It has memory and is complex-threaded. This is a fairly convoluted task; teaching the bot to learn to converse on its own is tricky.

One more thing

World meet Fofa — Fynd’s Order Fulfilment AI!

This changes everything we do to fulfill an order. Launching soon!

As part of our Open Sourcing Initiative, we will soon publishing a blog on why/how we built Fify.
